Book Review: Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

For some reason, I’m starting to get into the historical fiction funk here. I mean, I’ve been reading more and more of historical fiction, despite saying oh, I’m not a historical fiction kind of gal. YE SURE KEEP TELLING YO SELF THAT, MARYAM. But yes, I am starting to like reading about people in the past. Very interesting hmmmmmmmmmmm. A smol confession: I actually picked up this book from the library because it’s about Alexander Hamilton and for some reason, when you tweet that name, book twitter tends to start screaming in excitement. And I know Hamilton is a very recently famous play, which unfortunately more »

Book Review: Starflight

OMG this book was soooo good. I mean, seriously. Okay, I love Alienated, the other book written by this author, but Alienated was more of a fluffy, romance kind of book that included aliens and stuffs like that. But STARFLIGHT was on a whoooole new different level. It’s way more than just romance, way more than just aliens in space. Well, okay there wasn’t any aliens. BUT it’s about people living way beyond Earth, like people living in outer space and Landers wrote is so well that it makes me feel like I’m the one who’s living in the book. more »

Book Review: Rebel of the Sands

Okay, I may be just a litttttle bit biased in my review BUT I LOOOOVE THIS BOOK because it features a female sharpshooter. And not just any sharpshooter, but a bloody good one. From the very first page of this book, till the last, I love it so much, and I dare say that this is by far one of my favorite books of 2017. I haven’t read much this year thanks to exams, but hooooly, this book makes me wanna reread it over and over again. I think it’s safe to say that I am in love with Amani, more »

Book Review: Outlander

Be still, my beating heart. Guys, I am officially in love with Jamie Fraser. I mean, HOT DAMN. HOTTTTT DAMN. I actually got pretty interested in Outlander when Sasha from A Bookutopia keeps spazzing about how this was her favorite book and such. And the thing is, I am always interested to read people’s favorite books, because I wanna know if they’re REALLY GOOD. I mean, people don’t just deem an average book as their favorite book, no? But anyway, yeah, so when I saw this book at the library, I KNEW I had to pick it up! I was SO into this book more »

Book Review: The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1)

The first thing I will say is: MANCHEE. Second thing: OMG you guys really need to read this book. It was phenomenal and I was totally awestruck by the whole idea behind this story and the writing was fantabulous. Todd, the main character, was someone that I fell in love with, or at least in like with, since the start of the page. His feelings bled out through the thin pages of this book, and I felt like I was experiencing every freaking damn emotion that played out. He was innocent, scared, rude (which was pretty endearing, to be honest) and more »

Book Review: Gathering Darkness

As much as I love this series, this particular book frustrates me SO. DAMN. MUCH. OK. I mean, I wanted to pretty much kill everyone except for Cleo. Seriously, practically each and every one of the characters were acting like immature juvenile and I wanted to scream my head off. *takes a deeeep calming breath* BUT the story line of this book made up for the horrible characters, and it was really interesting. Plot-wise, there was a lot of development going on, from knowing more about the Kindred, and also the different relationships between each character that added on to more »
