Blog Tour: Little is Left to Tell

Hello Everyone! I am excited to be working with TLC Book Tours today to review the adult abstract contemporary book, Little is Left to Tell. I rarely have opportunities to branch out from young adult books, but I was happy to have this opportunity to review this title and share it with our readers! Thank you, TLC Book Tours for working with me on this stop today!   Little is Left to Tell comes from the perspective of Fin, an elderly man who finds his health and his mind failing. We catch glimpses of his spiral downward in his twisted narrative of the bedtime more »

Blog Tour: The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle

I have the please of hosting Janet Fox on the blog today for The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle blog tour. I am a horrible interviewer, but she has taken the time to answer my questions with kindness and patience, and I love her for it. But first, book info and a special video from the publisher. Where did you get the idea for The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle? That’s a great story. I’m going to tell you a little bit of it, and then discuss it in more depth later on the tour. I was online – just more »

Blog Tour: Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

If you know me and read enough of my reviews (no one does), then you know I more often than not complain about the romance in books. Too much insta-love, no chemistry, too much romance and not enough story, etc. I never expected anything different from Tell Me Three Things. Imagine myself pleasantly surprised when I found out I actually liked the love interest and actually found the romance compelling and cute (okay, a little cheesy, but still super cute). I actually giggled–GIGGLED–like I was back in high school. I’ve been told so many times to read this YA romance, more »

Book Review: We Had A Job To Do

This is actually going to be a short and easy review. I can’t bring myself to get critical when it comes to most historical books, most particularly historical books that are on the biographical side and during a war-ravished time-line of events. These time periods often fascinate me… these stories… and they deeply sadden me also. I get heavily and emotionally involved while reading. We Had a Job to Do takes the reader on a series of war veterans’ tales through World War II and the events they’d lived through. How could I honestly set this book down and think more »

Blog Tour: The Toymaker’s Apprentice

I want to thank Penguin for asking me to be on the blog tour for The Toymaker’s Apprentice. I’ve wanted to start featuring more middle grade novels on Great Imaginations, and it looks like it’s starting to pay off! Sherri L. Smith is an author whose books I have enjoyed before (Orleans), and this is her middle grade debut. This is my first Nutcraker retelling, and to be honest, I’m not very familiar with the original at all. But I think this presents an interesting perspective from which to review the book. Going into this novel, I had no more »

Like It Never Happened Blog Tour + Favorite Quotes + Playlist

Review + Favorite Quotes: When I was in high school, I was a big part of the drama club. I had a lead in the spring play my senior year, and a very important role (wicked witch) in the fall play. Whenever a book comes up that has a theatre theme, I try to pick it up. I wanted to read Like It Never Happened right from the very beginning. It’s a solid addition to this genre, and I had a lot of fun with it. Since this is part of a blog tour, I was asked to pick my favorite quotes more »
