Now the middle grade books are REALLY stacking up on my shelves, plus I requested a good portion from publishers this year. I have committed myself and I intend to follow through. The Water and the Wild is my third middle grade book of 2015. I had been anticipating this book ever since I saw the cover on Cover Snark. I more »

Book Review: The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason

I didn’t even know what to expect when I opened up The Clockwork Scarab. No one I knew had read it yet, so it was all up to me to be the guinea pig. Because it always seems that I am the last one to read every book, this was an unusual occurrence, but I was happy to do it. The plot of this novel is an enormous undertaking. There is a LOT going on here: a historical steampunk setting, Egyptian mythology, Sherlock Holmes’ niece and Bram Stoker’s sister, time travel, vampires, and that seems to be only the beginning. more »
