Book Review: Soundless

Did you know, I was scared to read this book because of all the negative reviews that I’ve seen it getting, but I do have to say this: I really liked this book. I don’t love it, but I really liked it. I felt that there were problems here and there, but I still did like it. I definitely LOVE the whole setting of this book. A whole village of deaf people? I was reaaally curious as to how Richelle Mead would write out this story, knowing that there shouldn’t be any sense of hearing or noises here and there. I more »

Book Review: Soundless

I expected to hate Soundless, or at least find it mildly irritating. But actually, I quite liked it. No, it’s not perfect. I rarely ever say this, but it was too short. I needed more world-building, more character development. I think Richelle Mead is used to writing series, so maybe she forgot that you need to put it all in one book when it’s a standalone (LOL), but that doesn’t change the fact that it was entertaining, a fast read, and fairly unique, as far as fantasies go. I think the think that bothered me the most about the world-building more »

Book Review: The Ruby Circle

So here we are. At the end. I feel like a close friend is moving away. It’s not a death, because I can revisit this friend (or friends, actually, if you want to count my love of the numerous cast of characters for their variety of personalities) anytime I want. But it’s still heartbreaking to think of it as THE END.   I mean, what about all of the years we’ve been through? The laughs? The tears? Adventures and romance? The crazy one-liners?   I’m talking about both sets here, not just Bloodlines. I know and understand that Bloodlines more »

Book Review: Silver Shadows

I know The Ruby Circle recently released, and yes I’ve already read it. That review will be up shortly. At first I wasn’t going to review Silver Shadows because like with The Fiery Heart, what’s there to really say other than to sit and gush about it? And it really is hard to review late installments (rather than just first and last) of a large series. I want to gush about certain events, but it could lead to spoilers, and I’d hate to spoil anything for anyone that may be picking up this series in the near future. Lol. So more »

Book Review: The Fiery Heart

To be honest, I hadn’t planned on reviewing this one for anything other than Goodreads. It can be a real struggle talking about series installments, most particularly when they’re right in the middle of the series like this one (book 4) without spewing a bunch of spoilers for anyone who may just be starting, considering, or haven’t caught up yet. But you know what? Sometimes I just have to gush. So here I am, gushing about The Fiery Heart. I’m sorry if some of you have not even read some of this series. (Actually, what are you doing here? Forgotten Fridays: Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Welcome to Forgotten Fridays. This mission of this feature is, twice a month, to review books that are more than a year old. And we review them TOGETHER! Most reviews have minor spoilers because it is hard to block them out in a back and forth dialogue about a book. So keep that in mind when reading, though we do try to not mention anything that would ruin a book for anyone. There are actually some minor spoilers in the post as we felt it was imperative to discuss specific elements of the book, particularly the ending. So if you still more »
