I can thank Kara and Bekka for the push to read this novel. When the subject came up, both of them would slightly fangirl, and I was feeling excluded. The book had interested me, but there were many others that I was placing in front of this novel on my TBR pile. So I can chalk this one up to peer pressure. So far, it’s been a rather disappointing reading year for me. I think I’ve only given two books a five star rating, and even the fours have been sparse. The majority of books I’ve gotten through this year have been three star books, which is pretty much an average rating for me, meaning acceptable but not one I enjoyed as much as I could have. Book Review: The Kiss of Deception

Have you ever read a book that annoyed the hell out of you and yet you could not put it down, it was so fun to read?  The Kiss of Deception is that book for me.  The parts that I disliked (the romance, the weird characterization of, well, EVERYONE) didn’t overshadow the parts that I enjoyed (Lia, the world-building.)  There were plenty of eye-roll moments, but all in all, this was an exciting, fun first installment of a series I will for sure be following.
