I’m beyond excited to host today’s stop for Jennifer Mathieu’s third novel, Afterward, a YA novel centered around a kidnapped boy and a sister of an abducted boy trying to find answers to help her autistic brother after both are released from their hostage situation. How am I supposed to review this? How? First off, you should know that I generally avoid books like this. I usually avoid religious topics like the plague. As a firm atheist, I just have no interest in reading about any kind of religion. I chose to become an atheist, partly because I wanted to eradicate that shit from my life. Book Review:  The Truth About Alice

I feel like there are some books that you just know you’re going to love from the moment you lay eyes on the cover.  The Truth About Alice was one of those books.  Of course, this wasn’t the easiest book to read, but I’m very glad I did.  It was emotional and powerful and impossible to put down. The thing I loved most about The Truth About Alice was the way the story was told.  Written from the point of view of four of Alice’s classmates, we’re given a look at the motivations of those surrounding the rumors about Alice.  more »
