Book Review: Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

For some reason, I’m starting to get into the historical fiction funk here. I mean, I’ve been reading more and more of historical fiction, despite saying oh, I’m not a historical fiction kind of gal. YE SURE KEEP TELLING YO SELF THAT, MARYAM. But yes, I am starting to like reading about people in the past. Very interesting hmmmmmmmmmmm. A smol confession: I actually picked up this book from the library because it’s about Alexander Hamilton and for some reason, when you tweet that name, book twitter tends to start screaming in excitement. And I know Hamilton is a very recently famous play, which unfortunately more »

Book Review: Blood for Blood

HELLO THERE. I am back huehue. It’s been a truly long while since I last wrote a review on this blog. Life has been prettttty hectic since the start of 2017 and it took me a long while to get used to school life. I even had to shut down my personal book blog because it did not seem wise to continue it when I haven’t blogged in almost a year. BUT ANYWAYS. Back to the review! It’s safe to say that this book broke me, shattered me, killed me. I mean, HELLO WHAT IS THIS. For someone who isn’t a more »

Book Review: Crooked Kingdom

I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting. I AM NOT OKAY. LIKE NOPE NU-UH. Yknow, I finished this book two weeks ago and I AM SO NOT OVER IT. I can still remember vividly what happened in the book, and oh damn. This is the best conclusion to a duology that I’ve ever read. Everything just falls into place and oh damn. OH DAMN. But okay, I more »

Book Review: Starflight

OMG this book was soooo good. I mean, seriously. Okay, I love Alienated, the other book written by this author, but Alienated was more of a fluffy, romance kind of book that included aliens and stuffs like that. But STARFLIGHT was on a whoooole new different level. It’s way more than just romance, way more than just aliens in space. Well, okay there wasn’t any aliens. BUT it’s about people living way beyond Earth, like people living in outer space and Landers wrote is so well that it makes me feel like I’m the one who’s living in the book. more »

Book Review: Rebel of the Sands

Okay, I may be just a litttttle bit biased in my review BUT I LOOOOVE THIS BOOK because it features a female sharpshooter. And not just any sharpshooter, but a bloody good one. From the very first page of this book, till the last, I love it so much, and I dare say that this is by far one of my favorite books of 2017. I haven’t read much this year thanks to exams, but hooooly, this book makes me wanna reread it over and over again. I think it’s safe to say that I am in love with Amani, more »

Book Review: The Midnight Star (The Young Elites #3)

Well that was a bloody brilliant ending to an amazing trilogy. I mean, WOW. I probably should not be surprised because HELLOO this is the same author who wrote the Legend trilogy, but still. HOLY HELL I am seriously astounded by the ending and I’m not ready for this world to go away just yet. “You are a light,” she replies gently. “And when you shine, you shine bright.” That quote is slowly killing me every time I read it, oh God. This whole trilogy has been bloody perfect and just when I thought it could not get any better, more »
