This week’s topic: Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn’t
Was it just me, or was 2015 a stellar year for books? I certainly know that my bank account can back me up on that one. This might be a good thing or a horrible thing, but the YA authors are winning – I can’t keep up with the influx of awesome novels. I can see a whole heaping pile that will soon become Forgotten Fridays material next year.
Today, Kara and I are going to confess which books we were really looking forward to reading in 2015…..and we still are looking forward to reading them in 2016.
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
I was all but BEGGING for this novel since the title was released, and I still have a signed copy on my shelf, just collecting dust. This is hardly an excuse, but it was released with some other big novels, and when I finally got to it, I fell into the NaNoWriMo hole and then the December Pit of Christmas Hell and….I’m catching up so I can get my hands on it.
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
Cover Lust Cover Lust! I even won a copy of this ARC and set it aside to read it for Halloween and here it is, looking at Valentine’s Day and I have yet to even touch it. I have the disappointment on this.
The Geomancer by Clay Griffith & Susan Griffith
I am 5% into this novel, and I cannot seem to dedicate the time I need to get to it! UGH! And I really love what I have read so far! It really is breaking my heart!
The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
It just kept going on the back burner. I was so stoked when it came out. I bought it, and then I had to keep pushing it further down on the list. Even my mother read it (and loved it) and I have yet to even look at starting it.
The Last Time We Said Goodbye by Cynthia Hand
I will share this: Cynthia Hand is an author I very much enjoy. Sadly enough, when it comes to contemporary novels, other genres will jump ahead of the line. So, yeah, I’m still waiting for this one.
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray
I meant to read this when it first came out. But honestly, the anticipation scared me off. I loved The Diviners so much, and I’m worried about how disappointed I will be if I don’t like the sequel. I just need to suck it up and do it.
Rook by Sharon Cameron
A lot of the reading I did in 2015 was ARC reading because I was trying to catch up so I could start fresh in 2016. That meant that books I didn’t get ARCs for got left behind. This was one of them. I love Sharon Cameron though, so I am totally going to grab a copy of this for Kindle.
Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder
A new series featuring characters I love came out in 2015 by a beloved author, and I didn’t get to it. 🙁 I still have the ARC sitting on my Kindle. But I WILL get to it in 2015 when I am feeling it. I’ve heard it’s great!
City of Savages by Lee Kelly
I bought this for my Kindle when it first came out, and I’ve heard so much about it. I fully intended to get to it, but that didn’t end up happening. I’m definitely going to read it this year. Soon, probably.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
I heard so much about this and it won awards and was hyped by practically everyone. That immediately turns me off because I don’t want to read what everyone else is reading it, but I bought it in hardcover. Now that the hype has died some, I am ready to pick it up!
What books did you want to read last year, but just couldn’t get to?
