This week’s topic: Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR
Riddle Me This: What has no appetite, but always seems to eat; it carries no shield or sword, but it has never faced defeat?
The answer is: The TBR Pile!
This week, Kara and I share what we recently added onto it this week.
I had a huge 2016 add spree to my Goodreads page last week. Also, I consider “buy-me” as an extension of my TBR pile. Anyways, I am gearing up to see what I am planning to buy in 2016. I seriously, really need to slow down buying books until I can get some sort of control over my pile. Like, at least under 100, and then I can go and start shopping once again. The issue is, buying books is a nice way to let off a little shopping steam – books are fairly inexpensive, useful, and easy to obtain, so when I have the urge to shop, that is the first thing I reach for.
Back to the books, I believe that this is the year of fantasy. I added Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie to my list. A few people are hinting at love triangle, but I am going in, fully warned. I just love “rare gift” stories. Yeah, chosen one stories are a weakness of mine. Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan is another wonderful story that seems to sound quite interesting. That cover is also very lovely as well! The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye is inspired by Russian history and seems tied to real history. I really can’t pass up this one. Everything in the description is just for me. And I Darken by Kiersten White…..need I say more when the first line of the blurb is “NO ONE EXPECTS A PRINCESS TO BE BRUTAL”? Finally, my last book is actually a 2017 release, but anything from Jodi Meadows goes on my TBR list!
You mean I have to pick just five? I don’t know if I can do that because I have been adding books to my TBR on Goodreads like crazy. How about this, though? I’ll try to pick books that already have their covers out? Basically so I can make a pretty graphic.
But really, 2016 is shaping up to be a MUCH better reading year than 2015. I wasn’t a huge fan of most of the 2015 releases I read last year, and there just seem to be so many more books I am excited about reading that are coming out in 2016. That is kinda humorous considering this was the year I choose to read mostly from my own shelves.
For my list I chose to pick books from all years. A few are 2016 releases, a few are older ones I have added to my TBR for whatever reason. Like book one of the Sookie Sackhouse series. I wasn’t going to read the books, but I’ve been told that the books are much more pro Eric than Bill and this intrigues me as someone who is an Eric fan. So….I thought I would give them a try.
I’m getting more into thrillers and mysteries, hence why I have added The Shadow Hour and Ink and Bone.
On to the books!
