This week’s topic: Series That We Need To Finish
On most blogging pain points listed on the internet, series titles seem to always grab a spot. While the series installment became a popular trend, many bloggers feel the pressure of devoting their time and attention that must span over a long length of time. Some series have quite a few books, while others must wait for two to three years for the next installment in a series. It can be exhausting to grab all of the books as they slowly churn out, all the while, the reader has to remember what happened, the plot, the characters, and the ongoing arc. There are a lot of books that we want to read, and squeezing in the latest title can be, well, daunting and frustrating!
Kara and I talk about the series we really need to finish this week. And if this theme pops back up in a year or two, hopefully, they will not make a reappearance.
Kara Needs to Finish
I feel horrible because our blog name is literally in the paperback of Siege and Storm, but I was told I was going to hate the way Ruin and Rising ends because I hate Mal. I have it on my shelf and I will just suck it up and do it at some point, but I really don’t want to.
I LOVED Stormdancer. I liked Kinslayer but it was totally a heavy book for me that sent me into a downward spiral of depression. And so I haven’y read Endsinger because if Buruu dies (and I have a feeling he does based on reviews), I just can’t do it. I know he is a fictional animal but I cannot fucking HANDLE animal deaths.
No real reason that I haven’t finished the last two books in this trilogy yet. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I will. It’s even on my shelf of upcoming books to read.
I love Sophie Jordan but the reviews for the second book are pretty terrible so I really have no motivation to read it. I probably won’t ever. But I’ll read her next book!
Dude, I loved this book. So much. I even have the second book waiting. But I love it so much that I am afraid I won’t love the second book as much. I’m just afraid. I will suck it up and do it eventually, but I don’t know when.
Lyn Needs to Finish
I really loved the science and the reality behind this natural disaster-themed series, and the author is very sweet, and knows how to write. I need to at least buy the books, so that I have the chance to read them, when I can find the time.
The first book blew my mind, and it is a series that I want to see what HAPPENS, if nothing else. I have the second book, but I am terribly horrible about keeping up with series. However, after that cliffhanger in The Darkest Minds, this series has been chewing on my thoughts for a while. There is no way it could just LEAVE OFF like that!
I adore this writing team, and their new series is an homage to historical pulp fiction. If I am honest, I just haven’t found the time yet to pick up the rest of this one.
I can’t believe it – I want to finish this series because it has one of my favorite ships, ever. And this is technically cheating, since the last book is out in a month, but it is hard to move onto it when I haven’t even gotten to the second novel.
I recommend this one to a lot of people, since the first book was so awesome. So I need to take my own advice and pick up the other two books. I even own the last two books.
Have you started any of these series? Have you gone the extra mile and finished them?
