Story Sprites: Round 1 Conclusion

Posted September 30, 2015 by Lyn Kaye in Story Sprites / 17 Comments

Hey readers! We did it! We’ve reached the end of the first round of Story Sprites!

So how did each of us do?

So I finished off three of the five paths:

I was shocked that I was able to get to any books, at all, with these themes. And the challenge did help me clean up my TBR pile. On top of that, I am, as of today, 12 books ahead on my goal! I can’t wait until the next round! I want to catch them all! I want all five badges!

Turns out, not so great. It’s been a really hectic, stressful, yucky health three months for me. I wish I could say I’ve been reading a lot of books, but I actually fell massively behind on my Goodreads Challenge (10 books), and I am working my ass off to catch up. As a result, this first round didn’t go so well for me. Let’s see how I did anyway. O_o

Cover with silver lettering: The Stellow Project by Shari Becker
Book With a Virus/Outbreak: Deck Z by Chris Pauls
Forbidden Romance: Nightfall by Jake Halpern

Adult Sci-Fi: The Fold by Peter Clines
Novel by an Indie Author: Dirty Promises by Karina Halle

Female Fronted Fantasy: Persuasion by Martina Boone
Primary Colored Cover: The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jaqueline Kelly
Book With Angels or Demons: The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
First Book In A Series: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Features More Than One Female Protagonist: Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Cover With a Blonde Girl: Madapple by Christina Meldrum

Novel Over 400 Pages: The 3rd Woman by Jonathan Freedland

WAIT. I actually completed a path! Yay! I get a pink badge, Lyn. Hand it over! And I was so close to completing blue too! GRR.

Sorry I was late getting my update in! Not only that, but these gals put me to absolute shame for the first round. LOL. That’s what I get for being in such a rut for a majority of it though, I guess. Blegh. I’m thinking I’ll do much better for round two since my reading schedule has already started picking back up. (You may notice quiet times from me here and there… don’t be alarmed! I’m either reading or running around with busy kiddos!)

Pink Path-

Female Fronted Fantasy: Poison Study (Maria V Snyder)
First Book in a Series: The Fixer (Jennifer Lynn Barnes)

Orange Path-

Book Set in California: Delicate Monsters (Stephanie Kuehn)
Cover With a Blonde Girl: Uprooted (Naomi Novik)
Features More Than One Female Protagonist: Peaches (Jodi Lynn Anderson)

(dang… I almost had that path!)

Green Path-

A Novel Over 400 Pages: Inferno (Dan Brown)

Blue Path-

Book with Virus/Outbreak: Coldest Girl in Coldtown (Holly Black)
Book with Silver Lettering: Cress (Marissa Meyer)

Well, I didn’t do AS terrible as I thought. I’m still going to do better Round 2! 😀

Border Leaf

Great! But enough about us, how did y’all fair this round?

Now comes the fun part–prizes! Each participant that completed at least one badge will have their very own badge case emailed to them containing their completed badges!

With each badge you’ve completed, you gain one entry in the giveaway.  We are giving away three books up to $15 each, one for each lucky winner.

Here is how you can claim your badges:

Submit your completed challenge paths to our blog email, display them in a comment on this post, OR link to them in the comments if you’ve written your own wrap-up post.

The Badges

Remember when we mentioned that there is a link to the path colors on the storyboard and the badges? Well, we have been dying to share the “sprite” part of our reading challenge! Great Imaginations presents: The Story Sprites!

Each badge path has a theme/represents a character from a novel!

The Badge Case (yes, another Pokemon-inspired point) will contain the badges you eared. For example, here is Kara’s badge case:

Here is Lyn’s Badge Case:

I hope everyone had a great time with this new challenge! I know we certainly enjoyed putting it together and playing along with everyone! Don’t forget that round 2 kicks off tomorrow! Spread the word (and the love!) and invite others to play the next round!

One entry per household. Must be over 13 to participate. No cheating – we will be checking for those who are not honest with their entries.
