Epic Recs, hosted by Amber @ Books of Amber and Judith @ Paper Riot, is a book club/recommendation program/reading challenge wherein you and your partner recommend a book (or more!) to each other every month. My partner is Lili @ Lili’s Reflections! January was kind of a fail with our recommendations. I liked Croak by Gina Damico well enough, but I didn’t like it. And Lili didn’t even finish The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart. Hopefully February we can get back into the swing of things and have another good month.
This month we’re going with a contemporary theme. I feel like the only person in the world who hasn’t read Emery Lord yet, so when Lili noticed, she immediately put Open Road Summer on the Epic Rec list. As for my pick, I just read Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley not too long ago, and it’s yet another fantastic Aussie contemporary YA. I really think Lili’s going to enjoy it!
This month, Pixie and Lyn have decided to join in on Epic Recs and have picked books for each other!
This is the first time for Pixie and I to jump on the bandwagon and join in for this event, and I have to admit that I am very excited about starting this. I have wanted to participate for a while, but I never had the courage to ask anyone else. So for our first picks, Pixie and I actually recommended something off of each other’s TBR piles to help clean out the bookshelves and show some mercy to our bank accounts. I spotted Grave Mercy by Robin La Fevers on Pixie’s shelf, and I knew that I had to recommend this one for her. I believe it will be a hit. I read this at the end of 2014, and I quite enjoyed it. For myself, Pixie picked Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, since she said she liked it, and hoped I would as well.
Have you read any of these books? Let us know what you thought of them in the comments!
