I don’t know if you guys know this, but The Lunar Chronicles is one of my faaaaaaaavorite series. Seriously, if you haven’t started this series yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. You can see for yourself all the awesomeness on their blog and you should definitely be following Marissa Meyer on twitter. And don’t forget to pre-order Fairest, which comes out on the 27th of this month!
In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.
Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?
Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.
Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.
These books have something to offer everyone, in my opinion. They’re fast-paced and romantic and thrilling and cinematic. And the way Marissa Meyer writes, I can vividly imagine this world and these characters as if they’re right there in front of me. I’ve been wishing for a novella about the villain, Queen Levana, for a while now, and all my wishing has been rewarded with a full-length novel, Fairest! So I’m thinking that maybe if I put some more of that wishing out into the universe, maybe we’ll get Lunar Chronicles movies! And I’ve already picked out the perfect cast.
So I might have cheated a little bit with this pick, as Marissa herself has said that Shay Mitchell would be the perfect pick to play Cinder. I have to say I agree. I can see Mitchell playing that girl with the tough, bad ass exterior who is hiding a deeply vulnerable side.
Let’s all just take a deep breath.
Better? Okay. Aarif Rahman is not only drop dead gorgeous, he is exactly how I pictured Kai when I was reading. Do you need some more proof? Look at this (hat tip to Renae from Respiring Thoughts for bringing Aarif to my attention!):
Now excuse me while I go watch his entire body of work (ooer.)
I was scouring the internet for the perfect red-haired actress when I remembered Sibyl Vane from Dorian Gray and thought YES Rachel Hurd-Wood would be perfect as Scarlet! In my mind I see Scarlet as this spunky girl who is quick to laugh and quicker to pull her gun on you. Rachel Hurd-Wood has that look, I think.
I know I talked a LOT of crap when Theo James played Four in Divergent because of how old he looks (he really does look old) but I cannot deny his hotness and the fact that he is exactly how I imagined Wolf as soon as he was introduced. Plus, I think he has the chops to pull off Wolf’s vulnerability, especially when Scarlet is around.
CRESS. MY FAVE. Okay. Emily Kinney would be the perfect Cress because she was the perfect Beth Greene and they are very similar characters. Cress is this sort-of naive girl who is a hopeless romantic and optimist but she is also extremely smart and clever. Emily Kinney can be all of those things and more. Plus, the hair.
I was going back and forth on who to pick for Thorne because I know he is v v important to a lot of you (me too.) Ultimately, I thought Chace Crawford was just hot enough to pull it off and if we could all erase his Nateness from our minds and get a clean start, he’d be a great Thorne.
