This week’s topic: Characters You Wish Would Get Their OWN Book

Secondary characters can be a deal buster or a saving grace for some novels.  They’ll make or break a story. A good story more than likely will contain awesome back up characters.  But every once in a while, there is a character that stands out on their own. They are a beacon of all that is good and wonderful in a novel, and you’re just dying to get into their hearts and hearts.  This week, Bekka and Lyn discuss their top characters that should land their own book deal.

My favorite female book character would make for a great leading protagonist. She now lives in a world where her old way of life has changed, she has to confront her own desires and feelings, and the audience would get to see Karou in a new light. Also, THE ROMANCE PLEASE YES. I can’t think of one thing that wouldn’t make Liraz an excellent choice for a spin-off series.

I think I was one of the few who liked the ending of Rise and Ruin. I believe it opens the door for more possibilities and better choices for Nikolai for a future novel. His humor and his personality could create an ideal novel about repairing a broken kingdom.

Meg and Sam. That novel would just ROCK.

Here me out! Bella and Edward suck. But the other characters in the novel? It is the reason I don’t completely burn the novel and wash my hands of it. Someone mentioned that Twilight should have focused on the adults in Twilight. I couldn’t agree more. Carlisle was such an endearing character, and I would love to see him fleshed out. Even the full story of his background would be enough for me.

I know this came out of nowhere. I don’t read comics as much as I use to, back in the day prior to blogging, but I still have a flame for DC Comics. My favorite was always Starfire. I would love to see her in her own series, without resorting to becoming the hot, sexual alien chic. This badass went though some major crap, and she has enough of a backstory to carry her own title. It would get me back into comic books.

Eli, the love interest in Not a Drop to Drink has a really colorful backstory that I’d like to know more about. His journey started in the city with a closer relationship to the government and the dystopia side of things. I’d love to see more of that.

Cashmere and Gloss were the brother sister career duo. I know we’re all supposed to dislike the Careers, but I found their story really intriguing. Could you imagine being their parents or family or hell, even one of them. To watch your sibling go through the Hunger Games and win, and then have to do it yourself. Careers are supposed to aspire to be victors but it has to be hard to watch your loved one do this regardless.

Melusine was this young, almost mad girl who Annith brought into the abbey. Everyone thought she belonged to the goddess Mer because of her affinity for water. Anyway, her past is really mysterious AND she got to spend time with Mer’s children so a story from her POV would be awesome.

Do I even need to explain myself? I don’t think so.

What I really need is a book about the Marauders. That is that the world needs. It is the book the world deserves. Every once in a while I debate writing fanfic because I have a lot of headcanons (especially ships. I ship Remus and Sirius too much, you guys.) Anyway, any excuse for more HP is good enough for me, but I really want a book about the original Order of the Phoenix and all that.

  1. Carlisle is such a fantastic choice! I thought about going with someone from Twilight too since Edward has family members with such interesting back stories (and human time periods). Carlisle was such a great character and I have so much love for his compassion and empathy, and he seems to have retained his humanity impeccably. I would also love to read about how he managed to overcome his thirst to the point where he can be a surgeon. Great list!

  2. I’ve seen Liraz making a lot of lists which makes me want to read that series sooner.

NIKOLAI YES YES. He NEEDS his own book and I agree about there being more possibility for him now.

I almost added all of the non-Edward Cullens to my list. They were my favorite part of those books and I want more of them.
