top ten tuesday
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted at The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s theme:  Spring TBR

Spring is going to be awesome as far as books go. I have a ton of ARCs for the spring that I’m so excited for, plus a couple releases that I can’t wait to get my hands on.

Bekka’s Picks

1.  We Were Liars by E Lockhart.  Everyone has been going crazy for this book. Apparently it’s a total mind-fuck with a crazy ass ending, so I can’t wait to see for myself.
2.  Life by Committee by Corey Ann Haydu.  There are some problematic elements in this one (like seeing someone else’s boyfriend) but I like the idea of a large-scale truth or dare style game.
3.  Oblivion by Sasha Dawn.  You guys know how much I love my thrillers.  Also, I’ve never heard of graphomania before I heard of this book, and color me intrigued!
4.  (Don’t You) Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn.  I didn’t LOVE the author’s first book, but I thought it was pretty mind-blowing in a dark, twisted sort of way.  I can’t wait to pick this up and see what else she has up her sleeve.
5.  The Treatment by Suzanne Young.  Okay, I absolutely loooooved The Program and I have been counting down the days for a year now, waiting for the release of this sequel.

I am with Bekka. So, so many ARCs, but many I am looking forward to. I may have over-requested this year as I am still reading February ARCs but I am jumping around more now because I feel like I will get better caught up that way. So this is what I have planned to read for Spring:

Kara’s Picks:

1. Ruins by Dan Wells
2. Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
3. Plus One by Elizabeth Fama
4. Far From You by Tess Sharpe
5. This Side of Salvation by Jeri Smith-Ready

So looking forward to all of these, and more besides! I am hearing great things about the first two. I have heard absolutely NOTHING about #3, but that’s okay because I love going in blind! I’ve heard that Ruins is absolutely fantastic and a great trilogy ender so I am really looking forward to that. And Elizabeth Fama writes some of my favorite prose. Spring looks to be super exciting! If only I could read faster!

What do you think about the books we’ve chosen?

  1. Great list, I can’t wait to get my hands on Love Letters to the Dead and Plus One and I have (Don’t You) Forget About Me to read soon! I’d be quite happy to read all of these actually 🙂 Hope you enjoy them!

  2. Ahh I have grabby hands for several of these especially Far From You! I need to go investigate Plus One and Oblivion they may need to be added to my TBR list 😉

  3. Oh Bekka, those are some fab choices! I’ve also got Oblivion and am reading that next month hopefully and I’m really excited, the whole premise sounds so good! I’ve heard a few mixed things about We Were Liars, but I really hope you enjoy it, as well as the others! I have to say Kara, I’m very jealous you’ve got an ARC of Plus One, I really wanted one, and that cover, wow! I’ve also heard a few things on Love Letters to the Dead and Far From You and they’ve been positive so far, so here’s hoping for they are for you too.

  4. I’m really really really wanting Love Letters to the Dead. Keep hearing such great things. 🙂 (Don’t You) Forget About Me sounds good and something I would probably enjoy so I’m sure I’ll end up reading that at some point. Plus, where can one go wrong with a title like that anyway, am I right? Now the song is stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

I recently finished We Were Liars. Gave it 4.5 stars because it made me cry and I loved the writing style. But I’m still mulling it over for the review. It’s definitely memorable. I don’t know how to describe it. Haha. I hope it’s an enjoyable experience for you as well.

I really need to read this Dan Wells trilogy. I hear nothing but good things when I do hear things about it (it seems like it’s a bit of an under-appreciated work though, right? Not a lot of buzz around it.). 🙂

    Great lists, ladies! <3

  5. I’ve heard lots of good things about We Were Liars. I’m anxious to read that one. Also snagged Far From You and Love Letters to the Dead at ALA- I really need to get reading my ARCs! I really liked The Program and can’t wait to see where she takes the story next. At the time I didn’t love it as much as I probably could have because I had just read Slated, which had a similar premise.

  6. Bekka
The Treatment was amazing. It was a perfect ending to the duology and I am so happy that I got to read it. I was definitely the black sheep with We Were Liars. I just… the best part about it was the ending, but overall I was underwhelmed. Hopefully you like it better than I did. I need to read Life By Committee and (Don’t You) Forget About Me soon. I enjoyed her first book more than I expected to so I’m excited about this one. Oblivion looks fantastic. I “think” I have this one on my review list as well.

Love Letters to the Dead is on my list as well. I really hope I can get to it in the next few weeks. I do want to read Far From You. I may just buy that one when it comes out since I didn’t get an ARC of it.

    Happy reading ladies!

  7. I’m super looking forward to (Don’t You) Forget About Me. I didn’t love Another Little Piece either but it was nonetheless impressive. I STILL need to get around to reading Partials so maybe someday I can be excited for Ruins too. lol

  8. Plus One made it to my list too, isn’t the cover just gorgeous? I’m hoping that we end up with a brilliant read too! I really enjoyed The Program, so really have high hopes for the The Treatment! Both of you have awesome books to look forward to this Spring!

  9. I’m really curious about LOVE LETTERS TO THE DEAD. I’ve read some good reviews. WE WERE LIARS is supposed to be really good, and I would also love to read DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME. Awesome lists! Here’s my Top Ten.
