Hey everyone! I was absent last week due to fighting off some horrible illness that they will probably name after me.  I’m fully recovered now, though, so everything is back to normal.  The last two weeks were pretty good for me.  I made some very important purchases in preparation of BEA, and we’ve got a few things up our sleeves for the blog as well that I can’t wait to tell you all about.  Later.  Anyway, onto the books!  This is what I got over the last two weeks.

Pretty Girl-13  by Liz Coley
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
The Killing Woods by Lucy Christopher
The Selection and The Elite by Kiera Cass (I know, okay? I know. But I couldn’t help it.)
Nearly Gone by Elle Cosimano
Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas
Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn
Thanks, Lisa!
Purchased (With some of my ebook settlement)
Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green
For Review
The Best Horror of the Year, Vol. 6 edited by Ellen Datlow
Feral by Holly Schindler
Kiss of Glass by Madeleine Kuderick
In A Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis
Poisoned Apples by Christine Heppermann
Kara here! I have had kind of a yucky week. Work (editing) is slammed right now so I don’t have a lot of time for blogging or reading. And…I have gotten back into World of Warcraft and it is such a timesuck but it also makes me incredibly happy and helps my anxiety in a major way so it has many benefits to me. Also, I have not been feeling well. Allergies are kicking my ass via headaches and the pollen is brutal here this time of year. Our cars are literally covered in yellow. I am not sleeping well due to back pain. Basically I am a mess but I also am incredibly happy to be alive and thankful for the things I have and I know that these things will pass in time. So whatever. I deal.
On to the books:
I got a really cool package from Macmillan and Leigh Bardugo this week that I am totally in love with.
It’s a teaser of Ruin and Rising in a gorgeous carved box with some scented candles. Uhhh, you guys know how much of a candle hoarder I am. This was like magic in a box. I am calling for suggestions as to what I should store in this box. Maybe bookish swag?

  1. Great books girls! Bekka, you should love Anna and the French Kiss, not too cheesy, but cheesy enough, and I’ve got Dangerous Girls myself and have been considering reading it for a while, I might just do that soon. Kara, I’m amazed by the beauty of that gift, it’s so beautiful it’s unbelievable. The cover, the carving, the candles, gah I’m jealous, good on you girl! Well done this week 🙂

  2. What an awesome bunch of books!

The Ellen Datlow horror book looks good.

Also, I hate myself a little bit for enjoying The Selection, given the whole side stuff that went on. Oy.

Also, I did see those new Harper books on Edelweiss but have been too lazy to download them. Fail. But some are sequels to books I haven’t read and that just makes me feel guilt.

  3. That box is super awesome. It and its contents are so beautiful (I love boxes–they’re so incredibly useful). And the books you got look so good. I haven’t read any of them, but I want to read most of them! I hope you two enjoy the new books!

Kara, I hope this coming week goes better for you!

  4. You both sound like messes! I’m glad you are feeling better, Bekka and I hope you feel better soon, Kara. I’m looking forward to both The Dolls and Feral. I loved Burn for Burn and that series. I can’t wait for the third. Great haul this week!

  5. Oooh Anna and the French Kiss! I have got to get around to that one of these days. I’ve got an ARC of The Killing Woods and I have yet to make it around to it. Been hearing really mixed reviews and I’m skeptical about picking it up now.

Ahhhh! Ruin & Rising. So. Freaking. Excited. I can’t wait for that to release. Ben Winters Last Policeman is pretty fantastic. I actually listened to the first one on audio but loved it and I’m really looking forward to the final book!
