Last year, I made a list of goals I wanted to accomplish in 2013. Before I make a list of new goals for the year, I wanted to return to the list and score myself for 2013. I believe it is important to look back and see how I tallied up overall for the year. This will help me set more realistic goals for the future, and understand myself better as a blogger and a reader. I also want to see if I can give myself a gold star.
Goal: Read 100 books
I only read 54 books. That is less than what I read in 2012 (78). Graduating and taking up a full time job put a dent into my reading time. Also, living in a hotel and becoming depressed as hell didn’t help me at all.
Goal: Read more classics
I hope to turn this trend around next year with Forgotten Fridays.
Goal: Put a cap on book buying
I actually did buy less books this year. Lack of space and paying for storage deterred me from going wild at the book stores.
Goal: Stop book hoarding
However, my apartment and storage unit still look like a used bookstore.
Goal: Expand my horizon
Maybe not to the extend of my imagination a year ago, but I did detour outside of my comfort zone. Like I mentioned before, Forgotten Fridays is going to become a huge help this year in stepping outside of my usual novel stomping grounds.
Goal: Start clearing out my TBR pile
I failed big time.
Goal: Stop starting books and losing them
I did stop losing my books (oddly enough, with two huge moves).
Goal: Use the local library more
I tend to forget to return them, and the library is really out of the way. I also have limited time to visit, thanks to the stupid hours at my current job.
Goal: Stop collecting Kindle Books
I did stop buying so many Kindle books this year. Yah, me!
Up to you guys.
FINAL SCORE: 5/10
