stacking the shelves

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

Last week I skipped doing a haul because I only had two books. This week I’ve been overloaded. I’ve been looking up at the sky just to make sure no more books fall on my head, chucked via an unseen source. I have a big pile of physical books, some e-books, and even a book I purchased that was a steal for Kindle. You know it will be years before I can get to that one. At any rate, it’s time for the books.

The Vanishing by Wendy Webb (pitched by pub and accepted)-Thank you to Hyperion for this one that was pitched to me. I had wanted to read it when I heard about it way back when.

Glitter and Glue: A Memoir by Kelly Corrigan (unsolicited) Books about mothers are not usually my thing but I read the first page and I think I will like the voice so I will try it!

Something Real by Heather Demetrios (requested from pub) I requested this from Macmillan. I’m trying to read more contemporary, always, and this one sounds right up my alley. Thank you!

I got a big package from Harper Collins last week. One of the books was one I requested, but the other three were unsolicited. Though I am excited about reading them.

Evertrue by Brodi Ashton (unsolicited) I read Everneath and very much enjoyed it but I still need to read Everbound. I bought it a while back though so I might be able to review this one in time.

Avalon by Mindee Arnett- (unsolicited) I really wanted to read this one but I was on the fence about it because I read The Nightmare Affair and the author’s writing was not really my thing. I go for a more vivid style. That said, since Harper decided for me, I guess I am reviewing it!

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge (requested from pub) I have been wanting to read this one forever. Now I get the chance!

Her Dark Curiosity  by Megan Shepherd (unsolicited) I was told not to read The Madman’s Daughter because of the animal violence. But now I will be reading it because I have this to review. Which is fine because part of me wanted to try it anyway.

Dangerous Women by Various Authors (unsolicited) Holy crap at the size of this one. I really want to read it but when am I supposed to fit THAT in? I will admit that I am intrigued though. There are some GREAT authors in there.

  1. WOW, Kara, that truly is an amazing haul! It’s always amazing to me to see the actual book you American bloggers can get your hands on 🙂 I am quite happy it’s possible for me to get e-galleys, though, because my house would definitely be too small if I got physical copies as well.

There are lots of books on your list I have never heard of, so I guess I’ll be stalking your reviews to find out if any of those might be making their way to my TBR shelf.

Have a wonderful weekend, and happy reading 🙂

Ohh so many awesome books!!! I am so envious of everyone getting Evertrue!! I need that book in my life. I could request it, but I feel like I have been the shittiest blogger ever so… Anyways. I got Something Real also and am really looking forward to it. I have a few of those Harper titles from Edelweiss and am excited to read those too! Great haul babe!!!

  3. So many awesome books. I so envious that you got Evertrue, but I’m sure you will enjoy the books. Heard really good things about The Winner’s Curse. Come visit me as well.

  4. I requested Something Real, too … I love a good contemporary! I get so sick of series books sometimes … EVERYTHING is a series these days, it seems. I got a copy of The Madman’s Daughter from another blogger — didn’t know of the animal cruelty though! Glad to be warned.

    Enjoy all the books! 🙂

  5. Oooooh nice haul! I still have to read Everneath haha *glances at copy sitting on my shelf* and omgosh Dangerous Women! I saw that in the bookstore yesterday and it’s gigantic – so much goodness enjoy 😀

Heard good things about The Winner’s Curse – I love that cover too.

    Happy reading :3

  6. Dangerous Women looks quite fantastic. Let me know how that one is. The Winner’s Curse is good. It wasn’t amazing (I’m getting seriously picky about books, lol) but I liked it. I think you’ll enjoy it.

  7. I’m so eager to get around to The Winner’s Curse. Hoping to in December! I got an eARC of The Vanishing that I’m very excited for. HOLY CRAP Dangerous Women is huge. I put a hold on it at my library but whoa. Lol Good luck with that. Sure has some amazing authors.
