stacking the shelves

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

I was considering not doing a haul this week, but I did get a package, and then I got an approval from Harper, and rather than wait and have to post a monster haul next week, I decided to break it up a little. Not that I know I will have a huge haul next week, but I am expecting a few things, and I hate to let them pile up.

So before I get started, I need to talk about a book. A book you should all read. I just finished it this morning, and I need to rave about it. If you have not yet read Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller, you need to do so as soon as possible. If you don’t already have an ARC, it is still up on NetGalley last I checked, but if you don’t have time for that, then you can pre-order it on Amazon here. I have not yet reviewed it on the blog, but I will be soon, and it’s getting 5 stars. I have not fallen in love with a contemporary this much since Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard. And you KNOW how much I rave about that book on this blog. I linked you to the Goodreads page up there, but the book is set in Florida, and I will be going there (probably this weekend) and taking photos to include with my review. I cannot wait! Okay, so…on to the books I got this week!

This entire package is from Giselle at Xpresso Reads. Thanks, Giselle!
Undercurrent by Paul Blackwell
Everything Breaks by Vicki Grove
Hostage Three by Nick Lake
If You Could Be Mine by Sara Farizan (I already have a copy of this so I am thinking of doing an ARC box giveaway soon!)

  1. Le sigh. I requested a copy of Where the Stars…but got declined. I’m almost tempted to contact the author. I so want to read it pretty severely. The Handmaid’s Tale! Enjoy!!!

  2. You have now set my expectations for Where the Stars Still Shine extraordinarily high. We’re both currently living in the same place, so I could totally fangirl on her IRL if I love it. Since she’s a bookseller, I think I remember which one she works at, and I’m always in need of more books despite the fact the three baskets I’ve relegated for books are already beyond full…

I creeped myself out there. Eeek. I swear I’m not going to be as creepy as I make it sound. I’d be like that supershy Belieber who meets him and can only blush or stutter out a few words.

Also, *checks Edelweiss fervently to see if they’ve approved me for Cruel Beauty yet*

  3. I’m definitely excited to read Cruel Beauty. Margaret Atwood is one of my all-time favorite authors. It’s funny how well those two covers go together with the black and red and circular designs. Great haul and happy reading!

  4. If You Could Be Mine looks/sounds so good. I don’t know if I’d actually like it, but it catches my eye time and time again. And Cruel Beauty sounds amazingggg, so I hope you enjoy it!

  5. Ahh I’m so jealous of Cruel Beauty, I hope you love it! Also, I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews for If You Could Be Mind, so I’m glad that you got that one, I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

    Happy reading! <33

  6. Eee, thank you for the link love! Giselle is awesome for that awesome package of awesome. Yay, Cruel Beauty! I’m glad to see so many retellings of Beauty and the Beast coming up, because it’s my favorite fairy tale. I got it too, and I’m excited for it. The Handmaid’s Tale is AMAZING. It’s a truly excellent book. Great haul! <3
