stacking the shelves

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

This week I have a pretty huge haul. I got no physical review books but I did get a couple of e-books for review. And then I got more birthday books. I contemplated doing a vlog for this one, but my roots are kind of scary right now, and I know y’all don’t care about that but I am super insecure, so…

E-books for Review:

Before I get started on the books, I want to think Bekka at Pretty Deadly Reviews for sending me a ten dollar gift card to Amazon. You guys are wonderful.

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han (from Dan)
We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han (from Dan)

Thank you to Jessie and Dan for all the lovely gifts this week. I hear I have a couple more coming and those will probably be in next week’s haul. I also got a box of Lush from my mom and dad and now I have my favorite shampoo again!

On the blog this week:
Monday came and I reviewed SYLO by D.J. MacHale. Though I didn’t love it, I thought it had an exceptional plot.
On Tuesday, we decided not to participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week, and instead we asked bloggers for questions of what they would like to know about us! There is still time to ask questions, by the way.
Lyn thought she was doing Waiting on Wednesday by herself, but I pranked her and participated anyway. 😀 That was fun.
Thursday, I reviewed a graphic novel: Genius by Steven T. Seagle, and thought it was exceptional. I enjoyed it very much!
On Friday, Lyn reviewed Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst and gave it 4 stars.
Our collective review ratings this week were, 3, 4, and 4 dragons. Pretty good week overall!
Links we love:
Molli at Once Upon a Prologue wrote a very personal post about Rascal Flatts and all the things their music has inspired in her life. It’s a very sweet post.
Bekka at Pretty Deadly Reviews talks about her book romance deal breakers.
Kat Kennedy discusses whether or not you can cross the line as a YA blogger.
Giselle at Xpresso Reads and Jenni at Alluring Reads talk about their review reading habits in this week’s Book Girls Don’t Cry.

  1. Oooo you were spoilt! I need to read Texas Gothic so I can get onto The Spirit Cleansing. I know they aren’t a series but something in my mind tells me to read TG first.

    Enjoy 😀

  2. I’m about to start Dangerous Girls, saw Blythe’s review and have been really excited about digging in. I haven’t read The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy but I’m about to read Burn for Burn which I believe is from the same author. All her books seem really cute though.

    Happy reading, Kara! <33

  3. I’ve been meaning to read Jenny Han’s trilogy for a long time. I just can’t understand the hype over it, so I’m curious to see what you think. Lovely haul, as always, Kara!(:

  4. Oh MAN I can’t wait for you to read Dangerous Girls. It’s one of my favorite 2013 books! It totally fucked with my mind.

I just grabbed Engines of the Broken World after seeing it on this post. It sounds really, really, really weird, and I like weird. Hope it’s awesome!

  5. Amy

Such a fabulous haul!! You got tons of great birthday goodies!! I have Engines of the Broken World too and it sounds so awesome.

  6. I just finished Spirit and Dust a few days ago. I liked it, but not as much as Texas Gothic. Have you read that one? I have Dangerous Girls and 45 Pounds on my Kindle, but haven’t gotten to them yet. (I also suck at life, apparently. Lol).
Great haul!! I hope you enjoy all your new lovelies!

  7. ENGINES sounds so good! I’m regretting not requesting it from Macmillan now BUT I know I’ll grab it somehow.

So glad you had such a lovely birthday, chica. Thank you for linking to my post. 🙂

  8. AHHHH Dangerous Girls! So damn good! That book…I still haven’t reviewed it ten days later, I need to get my thoughts in a somewhat coherent state! The Testing is fun, very THG but still really enjoyable and easy to read! Enjoy them and glad you had a Happy Birthday last week xxx
