Top Ten Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic: Top Ten Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List.

Summer is here.
I hate the heat.
I am so desperate to cool down that I have actually used the public pool at the apartment.  I hate Texas summers.  I would rather watch the Twilight movies 24 hours straight than deal with 100 plus temps.
Er – back to the topic.
I posted up my own Viking challenge last week.   Lucky for me, summer is three months long.  On the flip side, my reading rate for 2013 is suffering some heavy blows from my real life issues, such as job hunting and some serious anxiety relapses.  This week, I will add a little meat to my challenge and share the top ten books I have slated for this summer (they have nothing to do with summer – sue me). I am also waiting on some books from Kara, so this is not a permanent list, by far.

  1. oo I hope you love Scarlet! I really love the originality and just plain awesomeness of Cinder and Scarlet. Marissa Meyer is so talented.

And I can’t wait to read The 5th Wave! I’ve heard such good things! Hopefully soon!

    Great list!

    • Cinder was so-so, but I hear that Scarlet was a nice follow up – so excited!

The 5th Wave is in progress – I’m still unsure about my overall feelings.

  2. I love how most of your summer reading books seem spooky 🙂

The Flame in the Mist is one I’d really like to read, even though I don’t read MG much anymore. Cinder was just OK for me, but I’d really like to read Scarlet!

On a personal note Lyn, I hope you find something soon re: job (I too am job hunting!) and I know anxiety relapses blow so sending you good thoughts! If you ever need to talk, my ears are open 🙂

    • I didn’t even notice that until now! I suppose I am in a “scare the heck out of me” mode!

Thank you about the job hunting issue. It is so horrible. Fresh out of school, and not a job to be found. UGH!

    • There are so many awesome books that I want to read right now. It helps that I had to pack most of my books away, and I physically had to take out the ones I wanted to read ASAP.

  3. Job hunting and anxiety issues – that sounds pretty much like my 2013! It sucks, doesn’t it! I’ve been trying to get back into reading and blogging more lately because it does make me happier when I do it. It’s just hard when you’re so exhausted… anyway! I like your list. I really want to read The 5th Wave too, I’ve heard so many great things about it.

    • I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through the same crap! 🙁 It isn’t fun at all.

I am reading The 5th Wave right now, and I’m still trying to decide where I stand. At least it is very interesting.

  4. you have to read suicide watch and vessel. i gave the first 4 and the latter 4.5

    happy reading

ps. i freaking want The Flame in the Mist by Kit Grindstaff

  5. Vessel is fantastic – one of my favorite reads from last year! I just finished and loved The 5th Wave. And I’m actually reading Arrow of the Mist right now. So I think you have some great summer picks in there, obviously. I hope you’re able to read them all!

    • Vessel looks really good, and I am really hoping to jump on it soon.

I am 66% done with The Fifth Wave – I’m really curious how this is going to end.

      Same here!

  6. OMGOSH ASHFALL. That’s one of my favorite dystopian/post-apocalyptic novels ever. Truly. It’s amazing. And if you don’t love it, well, I guess we can still be friends. lol I kid. Hope you’re enjoying 5th Wave too, I read that one recently and was pretty impressed (but not as blown away as most people.) Happy Summer Reading!
