top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic: Ten Books Featuring Travel In Some Way

I am always shocked when I believe I cannot think of anything for a TTT topic, then come up with a half decent post. Fear of Kara adds inspiration in any situation.

This week, the focus is on travel in any way we see fit in our top ten books.  I present to you – the travel edition!!

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson: Traveling on foot – Controversial book, but nice story.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel: Boat – Either you loved it or hated it. The ending made the entire story worth it.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: Aircraft/spacecraft – If a kid could write a book, she/he would produce this fine work of art.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff: Aircraft – Steampunk aircraft – yeah!

The Rift Walker (Vampire Empire #2) by Clay and Susan Griffith: Aircraft – Yet another steampunk-themed novel.

  1. Oh, great list, Lyn! I love Stormdancer! I have no idea why it isn’t on my list today. And Le Petit Prince is one of my favorite books ever – I have read it so many times I lost count 🙂 I have seen Between Shades of Gray on several lists today, I just may have to add it to my TBR…

Here’s my TTT post for this week.

    Happy reading!

  2. I watched Life of Pi yesterday and it was absolutely stunning, but I agree with you wholeheartedly that the ending makes everything worth it whether you dislike the movie or not. Wow. And I plan on reading Girl of Fire and Thorns really soon!

  3. There were so many we could have chosen, that I’m surprised I failed to pick Stormdancer and The Rift Walker since they’re on my top 10 lists and all! Great choices!

  4. I’ve only read TFIOS and Le Petit Prince from these books 😀 I loved the latter a lot! The others, not yet, although I am especially wary of Stormdancer. I know quite some of Japanese language and culture, and I can get a tad bit nitpicky when it comes to honorifics, and I heard the author messed that up, among other things. Haha.
