Stacking the Shelves #40

Posted April 27, 2013 by Kara in Kara, Stacking the Shelves / 17 Comments

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

Another pretty big week for me. I got three review books ad a huge package in the mail from Christina at A Reader of Fictions and a giveaway win from Jenni at Alluring Reads. I probably should be filming a vlog, but the last couple of days I haven’t been feeling well and I have a blood test this morning (it’s unrelated), so I just don’t have a lot of motivation to sit in front of the camera right now. So a picture it is again. YOU guys don’t want to see me on camera anyway, trust me. I am sooo awkward.

Anyway….books!

From bottom to top:

For Review:

The Resurrectionist: The Lost Work of Dr. Spencer Black by E.B. Hudspeth–Thank you to Quirk Books and LibraryThings early reviewers program.

The Bone Season (signed) by Samantha Shannon–Thank you to Bloomsbury USA.

I got one e-book for review from Netgalley. I don’t feel like downloading the cover this week, but it’s Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne. Thank you to Sourcebooks Fire for that one!

Gifted or Traded:

Taken by Erin Bowman–Thanks to Jenni at Alluring Reads. I won it in a giveaway there.

The following books are from Christina at A Reader of Fictions. I sent her a big box last week and these are what I got in return!

Winter’s End by Jean-Claude Mourlevat

The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna

The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow

The Murmurings by Carly Anne West

Beta by Rachel Cohn

Anatomy of a Single Girl by Daria Snadowsky

Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky

Violins of Autumn by Amy McAuley

Wildwood by Colin Meloy

Obernewtyn by Isobelle Carmody

I’m very excited about a lot of these, particularly The Bone Season. There’s a lot of hype behind that one, and the author is a darling person. I wish her all the success in the world. What did you add to your shelves this week? Link me!

Omgosh you have Taken! I really want to read that. Eager for you to read it and see what you think πŸ™‚

I’ve been meaning to read Obernewtyn for ages now since Isobelle Carmody is Aussie YA. I’ll get around to it eventually.

And my gosh Wildwood looks humongous!

    HAPPY READING πŸ˜€

  2. THE BONE SEASON? I am so excited for that! I really hope you like it because I have such high expectations for it with the six-book-deal and “the next Rowling!” hype, so let’s hope it lives up. Also, The Lost Girl is one of my favorite books, so I can’t wait to see what you make of that!(:

  3. I must write my review one of these days for Taken. Great Haul this week! Definitely interested in The Lost Girl, The Murmurings, and Beta. As always, I shall live vicariously through your awesome reviews πŸ™‚

Wow! It’s so nice of Christina to send you all those books. I hope you enjoy them! I also can’t wait to see what you think of The Bone Season (which I’m very curious about) and Truly, Madly, Deadly. The synopsis for the latter is SOOO intriguing. I’m worried, though, that it might not live up to it. I hope you can tell me otherwise. πŸ™‚ Get well soon!
