Stacking the Shelves #31

Posted February 23, 2013 by Kara in Stacking the Shelves / 15 Comments

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves! Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Team Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

This week was a bit of a small physical haul but I got a shit-ton of e-books. But before we get to those, see my photo below for some sunshine and books!

From Harper and for a TLC Book Tour, I got a copy of Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. I’ve heard great things about this book and I wanted to read it anyway, so I figured why not join the tour?

Thank you to the adorable Annabelle at Sparkles and Lightning for sending me her ARC of Fragments by Dan Wells. I cannot wait to read the sequel to Partials. That was such an exciting book! This is a long one though. O_o

Yeah, that’s a ton of eARCs. I better get busy. I could have gone even more overboard because there were so many more that I wanted, but I thought I would be a good girl and only request the ones I really wanted. I know!! I am making adult decisions. Imagine that. You can call me Mrs. Responsible Blogger. Heh.

Anyway, I do sort of anticipate next week being a slower week for books, so there is that. What did you get this week? Leave me a link to your posts and I will come see what you got!

  1. I think I really really want all the arcs you got. The End Games. Born of Illusion. In the After… SO MANY. I’m jealous. Definitely keeping an eye out for your reviews.

  2. I’m totally going to sneak over to your house and theive Fragments away from you! You lucky dawg you! :O) Looks the the book of the week is The Eternity Cure. Let’s hope it’s as good or better than the first one! Happy Reading!

  3. Amy

I got The Secret Ingredient and The Eternity Cure this week too. Wow, Fragments is a big book!! Yay for End Games, In The After, The Ward, and Arclight!! I have those too and can’t wait to get to them!! Fantastic haul babe!!

  4. What a fun haul this week!! So many ebooks!! I really loved Born of Illusion and I’m looking forward to reading The Ward and Arclight. And of course, The Eternity Cure is an exciting one! I’m really looking forward to what you think of Fragments, too πŸ™‚ Have a lovely week!

  5. I decided to read (listen) to Partials because I saw the sequel was coming out and I’m really, really hating it :/ I’m wondering if the audio book is at fault, rather than the book.

And I love the look of The Secret Ingredient, what a great cover! Enjoy your haul, Kara!

  6. Francesca Lia Block is one of my favorite authors of all time, so I’ll be interested to see what you think of LitToGW. However, I haven’t liked many of her recent books as much as her older ones, so if you don’t like it I still might try one of her older ones. They’re almost all under 30000 words, so it won’t take you long!

  7. Love the cover to ARCLIGHT and the creepy cover to The End Games! Looks like HarperCollins has made tons of bloggers happy this week, including me too! :)) I hope you enjoy these books! I know on twitter you were super excited for these titles! Happy reading Kara!! <3

  8. I got a ton of eARCs this week, too! I’m starting The End Games after my next read and I am SO excited it’s crazy. John Green + Stephen King, and is compared to This is Not a Test but with more zombies? I see a five star review in my near future. I also got In The After and Arclight this week–looking forward to reading them. ITA sounds really creepy, and I read a post by the author about silence which made me want to read it even more, and Arclight sounds awesome, but I think Emily May abandoned it for have flat and bland characters, so I’ll go in with moderate expectations. I can’t wait to see what you think of The Ward and Born of Illusion! I was declined for Born of Illusion (which is weird because I was approved for everything else I requested), but I held back on requesting The Ward. I have a feeling it’ll have little to no world-building, so I’ll wait for your thoughts on that one. Also–jealous you got The Eternity Cure! I haven’t received a response for that one yet.

  9. I really like the cover for The Secret Ingredient for some reason, I’ve never heard of that one before. So many good books on EW lately hey? That site is slowly filling up my entire spring reading schedule! Great haul chickie! I hope you enjoy them all!

  10. Oh I’ve been wanting to read Beautiful Ruins for DAYS. I would’ve loved to be on that tour… hope you love it! I received The Ward too and am very interested in The End Games. Hope you love them all! πŸ™‚ Happy Reading
