Stacking the Shelves #4

Posted January 20, 2013 by Kara in Stacking the Shelves / 36 Comments

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

This week, I have books that I found on clearance, visited an old bookstore that I love, and found a stash of books that I had lost in the closet (I have NO idea how they got in the closet).  I bought four new books for the Kindle, and I have one new ARC courtesy of Netgalley.

Books

The Thirteenth Princess by Diane Zahler – I have wanted this one for a while, and I found it on clearance. Lucky me!

Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly– This is the one I lost. I’m a bit skeptical, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in the storyline.

Learn Me Good by John Pearson– A gift.  I think it sounds very cute!

The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges – Found at the bookstore that I love.  I hope that I enjoy it at some degree.  Call me curious, but I think I will give it a shot, despite the feedback.

Pure – Also located at my favorite bookstore.  I have Fuse, so I thought it would only be fair to read the first book.

Jinx by Sage Blackwood – I have wanted this for a long, long time.

Nimbus by B.J. Keeton and Austin King– I found the author very interesting, and his book sounds great to boot.

Stray by Andrea Höst – I bought it after reading And All the Stars (Which I will post a review for in the future).

The Truth AboutLilly Barnes by Kimberly Russell – 99 cent find.

  1. I think the cover for The Gathering Storm is so gorgeous — I think I’d buy that book for the cover alone! I received an unsolicited copy of Pure a LONG while back — I should read it one of these days. It sounds super good!

  2. I was not a huge fan of Angel Burn, it just seemed to go on forever and ever and ever. I hope you like it much more than I did.

Pure was awesome because it’s different and literary and has some gross imagery. Still awesome.

I also really liked The Gathering Storm, but I have a bizarre Russia fetish.

    • I am interested in The Gathering Storm and the Russian connection. I really hope it is a fun read!

A lot of people liked Pure – I have high hopes.

  3. Pure is awesome! I can’t wait to read Fuse. 🙂
I read The Gathering Storm and wasn’t personally a big fan of it. I love Russian stories and such, too, but I don’t know what it was with that one on why I just couldn’t really connect. *shrugs* Maybe bad timing. Haha. Angel Burn has been on my TBR for quite some time, but I haven’t bought it or anything yet. Nice cover, though. It does look and sound interesting so I’m sure I’ll eventually pick that one up out of curiosity. 🙂

    • Hey Pixie!

I need to see if I can read Pure soon – a lot of people have been talking about it on this thread today.

As for The Gathering Storm, I have seen my friends rating split in half over this book. So I am unsure what to expect.

  4. I’ve heard some really, really good things about Pure (maybe from Kara? I can’t remember exactly who.) I’m on the waiting list at the library for it, but I’m something like number 43 out of 43. So it could be a while.

Good luck with Dance of Shadows. After reading the reviews coming in for it, I’m glad I got denied! I do look forward to reading all your status updates and review, though 🙂

  5. *jumps up and down* a princess book! Thanks for showcasing it – it went straight on to my to-reads list! I have the audiobook of Angel Burn – I’d be interested to see what you think of it.

  6. PURE is so good! I can’t wait to read your review for that one, it completely blew me away! You always have such great hauls, Lynn. I have to say that I am always impressed by the vast selection of genre’s you collect!
