Stacking the Shelves #26

Posted January 19, 2013 by Kara in Stacking the Shelves / 37 Comments

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. This is where we showcase books we have received or bought during the week.

This week I have an approval from Tor Teen on NetGalley, a HOLY SHIT! package from MacKids, and that’s it! It was a bit of a slow week here. But since this is one of my most anticipated books for 2013, I’m okay with that!
The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett
Thanks to Tor Teen for this one. This is definitely one of my most anticipated titles of 2013 and I am entirely too lucky to get to read it early.
Thanks to MacKids for this one and wow was I excited to get it. It was not a surprise because I requested it, but I still jumped up and down like a loon anyway. Because I won’t get to this one for a while, I’m sending it to my co-blogger Lyn first. Then when she is done it will make its way back to me. I’m actually really excited to see it through Lyn’s eyes first. Should be interesting.
And that’s it for me this week. Leave me a comment and I will try to come visit your Stacking the Shelves. Until next week, happy reading!

  1. Those are two books I really really really really REALLY want the opportunity to read ASAP. I think I’ll have to wait until they’re released and I have money though 🙁 Until then, I’ll wait patiently for your reviews 😀

Woohoo!! I love when you get books that you are really looking forward to. I got a package like that this week! I really needed a pick me up too because I was having a crappy week. Awesome books love!!

  3. AAAHHH SIEGE AND STORM! I can’t wait to see what you and Lyn think, Kara! I’m so excited for its release! 😀 Also, The Nightmare Affair looks great! I have it myself, so I’m interested in reading it soon!(: Great haul this week, Kara! 😀

  4. Wow, you have Seige and Storm! That one is one of my most anticipated book of 2013 after reading the spectacular Shadow & Bone, so I can’t wait to see what you and Lyn think of it! The Nightmare Affair I also have for review, and it sounds soooo good. The cover is gorgeous!

  5. I got approved for Nightmare Affair too! It sounds so creative and fun – high hopes for that one. And I’ve already expressed my jealousy over your Siege and Storm ARC but I am here to do it again. SO. JEALOUS.

I’m happy for you and Lyn though – at least I’ll get reviews from bloggers I trust!

  6. THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR. If you hadn’t posted this I never would have known it was on NetGalley but YES NOW I CAN REQUEST IT TOO.

Aren’t the people at MacMillan great? I just love them. I didn’t request Siege and Storm (I wasn’t a fan of the first book) but I got a package from them this week too, and while I was expecting it, I also danced around like a madwoman when I got it.

  7. I need to get around to reading Shadow and Bone, a few reviews made me think I didn’t want to read it, but if you’re so excited about the sequel then I will give it a go!

  8. I got The Nightmare Affair, too, and I plan on getting Siege and Storm really soon. I can’t wait to read it, though it might be a while, and I’ll probably be rereading Shadow and Bone as I don’t remember much from it. Except Darkling, of course. Great haul, Kara!

    • I wish I had time to re-read Shadow and Bone. I think I will have enough memories to be alright. Once I start reading usually things come back fairly quickly if the book was memorable.

  9. AH!!!!!!!!!!!! That is SO a HOLY SH*T package!! I LOVED Shadow and bone and can’t wait to see what Lyn thinks about it too! I got approved for The Nightmare Affair on NG too and I stated it and OMG it was SO WORTH the wait 😀

-Small but AWESOME week in books Kara! ^_^

  10. YEAH for Siege and Storm! It’s really good! And The Nightmare Affair sounds so awesome! I hope it won’t be another instance of The Unspoken. *runs away*

The Nightmare Affair was one of my most anticipated titles too, but it ended up disappointing me ever so slightly. It was still quite fun overall, though. 🙂 And I can’t wait to see what you think of Siege and Storm! I loved the first book!

  12. I was approved for The Nightmare Affair too. 😀 I’m looking forward to reading it. Sounds so unusual!
Congrats on Seige and Storm! I still haven’t read Shadow & Bone. I really want to. It’s on my wishlist, but I can never find it at the store when I go. Agh. 🙁 I’ll get it soon, I’m sure. I’ll probably order it instead. 😛

  13. Oh, that’s awesome. Totally wrote my message and blogger decided to eat it. Thanks blogger. lol Anyways… Siege and Storm? Hope that’s all kinds of awesome. And I’m excited to start The Nightmare Affair. I’m on a blog tour for that and I’m hoping I love it. 🙂 Great haul!
