Hey everyone!  Here we are, looking at the end of the year.  I made it to my goal of 75 books this year (I’m in my final stages of my schooling, and sadly, reading has to take a backseat to homework at times).  I decided to celebrate the end of the year with a list of my top ten reads from 2012.  I’ll note that I had to debate for a LONG time on my final decision.  I felt like a monster for cutting off 6 books that I wanted on the list.  However, here is the final result:

1. Nation by Terry Pratchett
2. Angelfall by Susan Ee
3. The Vampire Empire Series by Clay Griffith
4. Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby
5. Seraphina by Rachael Hartman
6. The Seer and the Sword by Victoria Hanley
7. Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier
8. Speechless by Hannah Harrington
9. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
10. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Some were new releases, and some books were old but awesome reads.  What were your favorite books that you read in 2012?

  1. I am SO GLAD you included The Seer and the Sword on your list! It is one of the few YA books I’ve read twice. I just wish it had a better cover–I always have to tell my students about it, get them hooked, then show them the book.

    • YES! Someone else who loves Seer and the Sword! I really do believe it is under-appreciated!
I’m glad you spread the love of this book to your kids. I think it is a wonderful and clean introduction to high fantasy.

    • I can’t stop watching that owl…

Angelfall is great! I found it ironically funny that Kara just put this book up on the books she hasn’t been able to read yet. I’m going to bribe her to read it now.

  2. Bahahaha, owl gif, you entertain me.

Seraphina and The Fault in Our Stars were definitely favorites for me as well. The Sky Is Everywhere was great too. The rest I have yet to read!

  3. I loveeeed Seraphina, TFiOS, Speechless, and Angelfall as well! I got The Sky is Everywhere for Christmas along with Wildwood Dancing, so I can’t WAIT to reasd those two! 🙂 Amazing list!
