Stacking the Shelves #6

Posted June 23, 2012 by Kara in Stacking the Shelves / 25 Comments

Welcome to Stacking the Shelves #4!! Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews.

Another week in which I behaved myself and bought nothing. Everything I got was for review. And one gift. It’s not that I’m on a book buying ban or anything, I just am trying to save money for important things that are coming up in my life, like moving back to Florida. I want to be able to go out and do stuff. Besides, I’ve bought more than enough to keep me busy for awhile. I have a LONG list of books I want, I’ll just have to wait a bit longer to get them.

This week I have a VLOG! Feel free to NOT watch it as I am TERRIBLE on camera. No really. It’s totally awkward. There are links below of you want to skip it and I am totally okay with that. This might be my last VLOG ever. I am not fishing for compliments, I promise. LOL.

Books For Review:

Wake by Amanda Hocking (Thanks to St. Martin’s Press)–Congratulations to Katie at BlookGirl for winning that extra ARC.

Miss Fortune Cookie by Lauren Bjorkman (Thanks MacKids)

The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski (Thanks MacKids)

Because It Is My Blood (Birthright #2) by Gabrielle Zevin (Thanks MacKids)

Not in the vlog because it came a day after filming:

Outpost (Razorland #2) by Ann Aguirre (Thanks Mackids, AGAIN!!)

Gifted:

The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan (signed too!). Thanks to Christina at Reader of Fictions.

I also got some assorted Heather Hildenbrand signed bookmarks which I will be sticking in books that I give away. Thanks, Heather!
And that’s it for me this week! Leave me links and I will TRY to visit your posts, but my husband is coming home from Afghanistan tomorrow and we are leaving for Florida on Sunday so my time will be limited. If I am unable to visit, I apologize in advance.

Also, the posts will be to a minimum the next week or so. I will still be posting, just not as frequently. I need to decompress and spend some time away from social media. I will be checking in from time to time, just not as often.

Thank you and see you next week!

  1. I want to read Wake really bad! Congrats to Katie for winning that. I hadn’t heard of Miss Fortune Cookie prior to this post but I looked it up and it sounds like something I might like. OOh and you got the bookmarks, YAY! I haven’t received mine yet and I can’t wait now because they looks super gorgeous. Great vlog Kara!!

  2. Okay, first off, YOUR VLOGGING IS NOT THAT BAD. I swear. That’s not a compliment just to make you feel better. It is honest-to-G-d not half as bad as you make it out to be.

Second off, you got some awesome-sounding books! I really love the premise of Wake and the Shadow Society, and while All These Things I’ve Done wasn’t my thing, BitMB sounds pretty great. I hope you enjoy these!

    • Haha, Lexie. Thank you. That means a lot coming from such a great vlogger. Seriously, your vlogs are…WOW.

And thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a lovely time on vacation.

  3. Amy

Great books this week. I really want to read the Birthright series and Wake. I have been trying to not buy many books since I have tons to get through too.

  4. Bea

Great selection this week, I hope you enjoy them.

YAY for yoru husband coming home, enjoy your social media break. You deserve it.

  5. Last vlog EVER? *gasp* WHY? It wasn’t a bad vlog at ALL I love seeing your sexy face!! 😀 And great haul too The Shadow Society sounds good I requested it on EW but.. who knows with that site!! Haha. And you got another copy of Wake! So cool for Katie to win it too! Love your face, bitch!!

  6. Kara ::pounces:: Thank you so much for Wake! 🙂 Can’t wait to receive it later this week. You scored some awesome books this past week, namely The Shadow Society and Outpost! I can’t wait to hear what you think of them.

And, Miss Negative Nelly, your vlog was just FINE! 🙂 You should definitely not stop doing them.

Hope you and Dan have fun in Florida! Stay safe <3

  7. Sorry I haven’t commented on this earlier, I was a bit slack with my commenting last weekend! I haven’t heard of any of the books you got but a few of the authors’s names ring a bell, so I’ll be checking them out!

Yay for your husband returning!! 🙂

  8. Guess who had no idea The Lifeboat was signed. *laughing my ass off* Anyway, hope you like it. It is pretty anyway!

The Shadow Society TOTALLY ended up getting an awesome cover, and I def know what you mean about coverless ARCs. Your memory of the book can be so linked to an image.

Also, you have a copy of Outpost?!?!?! *tries to remember that we’re friends and I shouldn’t come steal it* :-p Just kidding, but, seriously, so excited for that sequel, although I need to reread the first one I think.

    • Also, I secretly suspect (or I did until I said it on a public forum) that you’re blogging this week not because of the return of your husband, but because of the return of Big Brother. 😉

    • You had no idea it was signed? Do you want it back? LOLOL.

I might re-read Enclave myself. Depends how much time I have. I am more than happy to let you borrow it after I’ve finished reading it. Just let me know.

Also, I’m trying to keep up with my blogging even when I’m not really here that much this month. It’s cuz I miss you guys. 😉 I am excited about BB though.

  9. Hahah, no. The book’s all yours, hon. I just thought it was funny that I didn’t even know.

Awww, thanks. We’ll see how I’m doing with my pile when you’re done.

We miss you, too! But you’re still on Twitter, so I’ll get by!
