Waiting on Wednesday #5

As usual, I am going to feature two upcoming books that I am waiting on to release. One will be young adult and one will be adult. Like last time, the young adult book is up first. I have not heard much about this book, but it encompasses an element of travel, so for me that is a MUST READ.

Publisher: Delacorte Books
Release Date: Feb. 14th, 2012
Pages: 272
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Travel

Down-to-earth Zeeta and her flighty mom, Layla, have spent years traveling the globe and soaking up everything each new culture has to offer. Now they’ve settled in the beachside town of Mazunte, Mexico, where Zeeta’s true love, Wendell, has an internship photographing rare sea turtles. At first glance, Zeeta feels sure that Mazunte is paradise—she envisions dips in jade waters, sunsets over sea cliffs, moonlit walks in the surf. And she is determined to make Mazunte her home . . . for good. But as she and Wendell dig deeper to unearth her elusive father’s past, Zeeta finds that paradise has its dark side.

Next up, is my adult fiction pick. Zombies! Jonathan Maberry! I’m pretty sure it’s not a series either. Standalones are unusual these days and they are a breath or fresh air! But anyway, since I read my first Maberry, I have been a huge fan of his. And I love everything about zombies. Zombie movies, zombie books, zombie TV, so yeah.
Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin
Release Date: October 25th, 2011
Pages: 320
Genre: Horror, Zombies

A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave.  But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects.  Before he could be buried, the killer wakes up.  Hungry.  Infected.  Contagious.  This is the way the world ends.  Not with a bang…but a bite.

So, what do you think?

  1. I love the sound of The Jade Notebook and standalones are really rare these days. I just found out that a book that I thought was originally a standalone has a sequel.

  2. Wow! That second one sure is creepy. Where do people come up with such horrific ideas like keeping someone’s conscience alert in the grave? Sheesh! Good stories. Both are new to me and I like the first one with the turtles. 🙂 thanks Kara.
