Ruth is one of the authors featured on Great Imaginations this month and she is also giving away some of her work in the Halloween Horror Kindle Giveaway. I asked Ruth some Halloween-themed questions to help everyone get in the mood for what is my favorite holiday.
1. What is your favorite scary movie?
‘The Silence of the Lambs’ scared the crap out
of me, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming ‘The Woman in Black’.
2. What is your favorite thing about Halloween?
Dress-up mayhem. Morbid humor.
3. What is your favorite scary book?
‘Shadowland’ by Peter Straub.
4. When you were a kid and dressed up for Halloween, what was your favorite costume and why? If you still dress up, you can put that too.
I had a spider costume with extra legs attached to my arms with stings. It was awesome.
5. What is your biggest fear and why?
Life-threatening illness. Been there, done that. Not fun.
6. Do you have a true spooky story to tell? Do it!
Quite a few, actually… I remember as a latch-key kid coming home after school to an empty house and locking the door after me. I was standing at the bathroom mirror when I heard footsteps creaking down the hallway. They stopped right in the open doorway with a loud, final CREAK… and I felt like something was standing there in front of me- watching- even though I couldn’t see it.
7. If you had to believe in a mythological/paranormal creature, which one would it be, and why? Ex. Vampires, werewolves, Lochness monster, etc.
Ghosts. I’ve had too many encounters to not believe in them.
8. What is your favorite thing to do during the fall/Halloween season?
Take a walk on Halloween night to see how people decorate their houses, and watch the kids run around in their costumes. I loved Halloween better than Christmas as a child. It’s fun to watch them having a blast and playing dress up.
Thanks for answering my questions, Ruth! I can’t wait to read your book. It sounds amazing and I want to thank you in participating in the giveaway and other events this month. The best part about doing this Kindle Fire giveaway for me was meeting Ruth. I was familiar with the other three authors, but I had never heard of Ruth before, and I love discovering new authors!
As for your answers, I thought the ‘Silence of the Lambs’ was terrifying too. I’ve seen a ghost as well. So I can totally relate to that. But I have a few other theories about what it was I saw. Who knows? I definitely saw something.
